Les Collections Du Chateau de Gourdon
As this blog did not exist at the time of this auction, we taught it appropriate to show the incredible prices which can be achieved for iconic pieces of 20th century design.

At the end of March 2011, Christies handled the sale of Les Collections Du Chateau de Gourdon. Considered one of the most important private collections of decorative arts, Christies estimated the sale would generate between €40 and €60m. In the end, the sale total, including buyers premium was at the more conservative end of the estimate, just under €42m.

Included in the sale were many design classics but of most interest to Minima are some of the original pieces, still being manufactured today, which achieved exceptional results. Below is a list of a few of the results. It just goes to show that true quality stands the test of time and will endure for generations.
