Roberto Lazzeroni was born in Pisa in 1950 and trained in art and architecture in Florence, where he developed a strong interest in conceptual art and Radical Design. He made his debut as a designer at the beginning of the 1980s, initiating a series of valuable collaborations in the interior design sector that inaugurated a flourishing career as architect, designer and art director of numerous products for the most prestigious international design companies. Focusing on the value of memory and tradition, Lazzeroni experiments with integrating craft and industrial production in continuous tension between past and future, autobiographical memory and collective imagination. Design history is a starting point for Lazzeroni’s definition of a personal and recognisable style that translates into rigorous objects devoid of ostentation and decorative excesses – “sentimental design” as he likes to define it.
